Meet the Editor: Anna Hensley
I specialize in supporting 1) interdisciplinary scholars working to establish themselves in their fields and 2) graduate students juggling professional, family, and community responsibilities while earning their degrees. I’ve worked extensively with junior faculty and PhD/EdD candidates in fields like education, psychology, social work, criminal justice, economics, disability studies, writing studies, and religious studies, and I edit everything from dissertations to funding/program/job applications to academic book and article manuscripts.
I am a former Associate Professor of English with over 15 years of experience teaching academic writing and research to diverse groups of learners, including multilingual writers, international scholars, and first-generation academics. My own scholarly background is rooted in cultural rhetoric and writing studies, with a specific focus on transnational feminist theory, disability studies, and culturally responsive teaching. My interdisciplinary background and academic writing expertise mean that I am ready to support scholars of all levels across the social sciences and humanities.
As an editor, I bring a rigorous eye for detail, fluency in academic writing and research conventions, a strong sense of structure, and a knack for helping writers clarify complex ideas. I also bring deep insider knowledge about graduate school, academic publishing, academic job searches, funding and hiring committees, and promotion and tenure processes.
