I started Corvus Editing Services to help graduate students and emerging scholars finish their degrees, create successful application materials, and get their work published.
I have been working with academic writers since 2004, and I spent nine years teaching academic writing and research at a diverse 2-year college where half the students were 1st Gen and nearly every student worked while attending school. My students were sharp, interesting, and creative, and I loved working with them as they developed their writing and research.
Unfortunately, by the time I earned tenure, I was severely burned out and knew I needed to leave my job as an English professor so I could build a different life for myself and my family. I don’t miss higher ed. But I still love working with creative, energetic thinkers–especially those writing and researching with an eye for enriching, transforming, and supporting their communities and their professions.
As an editor, I love providing practical, expert editing support to working and returning graduate students. I regularly support students who are established in their fields working to finish up graduate degrees in education, social work, criminal justice, economics, and psychology. Balancing academic research and writing alongside work, family, and all of life’s other competing priorities is a massive task. I work hard to honor the rigorous intellectual work my clients have done by providing
- Thorough, accurate, and personalized editing
- Clear and respectful feedback
- Accessible rates
- Efficient editing and reliable return dates.
I am queer and neurodivergent (AuDHD) woman, and I live with my partner and our two children in Cincinnati. When I’m not editing, I enjoy spending time with my kids and taking walks with my dog, Roz. I’m an avid reader and a shameless metalhead. I’m a gardener on a mission to turn every inch of my tiny urban yard into productive growing space. I’m also a non-stop knitter, sewist, quilter, and baker. I’ve gone from burned out professor to feral bohemian, determined to grow and create and learn whatever I can.
